Though there are many people looking for jobs, Southern California is home to several large employers. The major employers who offer jobs in Southern California include the Federal Government, with Edwards Air Force Base, and the 32nd ST Naval Station in San Diego. Other major employers include Boeing in Huntington Beach, as well as the University of California, Los Angeles.
These and many other employers provide the area with a wealth of jobs. Southern California is one of the few regions of the United States that offers a variety of working opportunities for people in all walks of life. You can find jobs in Southern California that range from part time employment in one of the service industries, to employment opportunities with major corporations. For those looking to advance their careers and make better money in their jobs, Southern California does have some of the highest wages in the country, especially for professionals.

Southern California has many jobs, but there is also a high demand for those jobs so you have to do your best to stand out from the many other people who want that job you are applying for. Most of the time your resume is the first contact you will have with a prospective employer, you will want it to be a good representation of you and your job skills. Don’t be passive during your job hunt. Though you do not want to be overly aggressive when dealing with employers, you do want to be assertive. In other words, once you have put in your applications and sent out your résumé to the companies that are offering jobs in Southern California, don’t sit back and wait for them to call you. Keep track of which companies you have sent your resume to, and get on the phone to call them. Don’t let them file your resume away and forget about you, be proactive and remind them that you are the perfect person for the job.
If you are assertive in your job search, there is no doubt that you will soon be getting interviews. Once you have made it this far, you know that they are at least interested in you, and that they do have a job opening that you qualify for. When going to your interview, always present yourself in a highly professional manner. Dress for the occasion and let them know that if they hire you, not only will they be getting a highly skilled worker, but someone who takes their profession seriously.
Remember, when you are searching through the available jobs, Southern California has a cost of living that is higher than many other areas so you will have to concentrate your efforts in the fields that will enable you to make enough money to live. There are many jobs in Southern California, if you know where to look for them, and if you can land one of those jobs, Southern California can a great place to advance your career.
