Fortunately, California is also home to some of the best culinary schools in the country.

Once you have decided on a career course, it is important to focus your efforts in that direction. There are dozens of chef jobs in California, but not all of them will lead you down the career path you have chosen. To ultimately reach your goal, you have to know which culinary jobs will help you to get there. For example, if your career goal is to become the premier chef in a high-end San Francisco restaurant, you may not want to take a job as a school cook.

Becoming a chef in a fine restaurant isn’t easy, in fact you will probably have to start at the bottom and work your way up. The beginning pay of an assistant chef at one of these restaurants is low, maybe even lower than if you chose to work at a chain restaurant, but there is a reason for this. There are many budding chefs out there willing to take a lower wage in order to gain the experience they will get working at a fine restaurant. They know that adding this to their resume will be well worth the lower wage. Once you are established as a chef with a great resume to back you up, the salary will be fantastic, plus you will be doing what you love to do.

There are so many chef jobs in California that this is most certainly one of the best places in the world for a young chef to begin his or her career. If you are serious about a career in the culinary arts, you don’t want to overlook the many chef jobs in California.
